HQWM Team Leader Selection Process

N.B. This process is being trialled in 2025.

• All players will be asked if they want to be considered as a Team Leader at the time of nomination
• Team Leaders will not be appointed by the Selection Panel
• The list of self-nominated Team Leaders is reviewed by the Ratifying Panel to determine the final list
• The list, specific to each Team, will be forwarded to the Team Manager
• Manager shares with the Team Coach
• Coach and Manager assess potential Team Leaders as follows:
  • Prior to departure for Championships
    • Timely responses to communications from Manager and Coach
  • • Meeting HQ financial deadlines
  • • Participation in training program
  • • Positive support of Coach and Manager via emails and Zoom meetings
  • At Pre-Championship Training
    • Displays understanding and support of Coach’s playing systems and set plays
    • Provides support and encouragement to all players
• Coach and Manager to recommend two co-captains to Contingent Leader for endorsement immediately following the first training session and no later than one hour prior to the Meet and Greet Function
• Contingent Leader to discuss with HQWM Chairperson and Coaching Co-ordinator for final endorsement
• Announcement of Team Leaders will be made at the Meet and Greet Function
• Post-Championship survey will ask for feedback on Team Leaders from Coach, Manager and Players.
