Gladstone’s Master’s player Terri Read nominated for Queensland Women’s Masters Team in 2018 at the State Championships held in Townsville. Terri was selected in the Qld 55 #1 Team to play at the Nationals held in Busselton / Bunbury. Terri was then selected to play in the Trans-Tasman Team at the Gold Coast in 2019 and was awarded joint Highest Goal Scorer for the Championships.
Terri became involved in hockey when she was probably about 10 years of age. For the next 10 years she played a goalkeeper, followed by a break from hockey for 15 years. On returning to the game at the age of 35, she played on the field and not in the box.
Her son and daughter both played hockey but now due to work or other sporting commitments no longer play. Terri’s mother was her biggest supporter.
Terri is a life member of Meteors Hockey Club and plays in the A2 Women’s division in Gladstone. She has held various committee positions for numerous years, taking a break from all committee work for the last couple of years.
As a junior player through to master’s player, Terri has always represented Gladstone at State Championships. Over the years she has received many awards for “Best Striker” and “Most Valuable Club Member”.
Terri says the best hockey experience ever is playing for Queensland (winning gold) and preparing to play for Australia.
