
Gladstone Hockey Association
Gladstone entered the QLD Women’s Veteran (now Masters) State Championships in 1986 when it was held on the Gold Coast.

Gladstone has had division wins at the QLD State Championships in 2009 – Divisions 2 – Team 1, 2011 – Divisions 6 – Team 3 and 2019 – Division 3 – Team 1






In 2011 when the Championship was held in Rockhampton a family of mum (Judy Aitkenhead) and 4 daughters (Leanne Steel, Helen Smeuldes, Karen Graham and Sue Brown) were all in the one team.
2012 saw Judy honoured with a Hockey Australia State Service Award and there are two articles about her and her family on the QLD Women’s Masters Website – Judy Aitkenhead and The Continuing Aitkenhead Family Story

The majority of service for these awards should have been as a coach, manager, selector, umpire, technical official and/or administrator at HQWM State Championships and within the local Association.

Over the years, Gladstone has proudly seen many more of its athletes wearing the maroon, including Sue Burton, Judith Aitkenhead, Cheryl Heard, Kate Evans, Robyn Black, Norma Smith, Sue Rayner, Debrah Creighton, Debra Dawes and Barbara Muldoon to name a few. Their achievements stand as a testament to our players’ dedication.
