Townsville Hockey Association
Townsville Hockey Association was proud to hold the Inaugural QLD Women’s Vets event back in 1985 in conjunction with that year’s Women’s Open Championships. Four teams competed – Brisbane, Cairns, Mackay and Townsville. The event was held at Endeavour Park – which are now Cricket Fields across the road from Townsville Hockey Association’s current complex.

Townsville has also celebrated many player’s personal achievements with selection to Queensland Masters & Australian Masters Teams over the past 40 years – we are proud of them all!!!

Over the past 40 years, Townsville has grown their Women’s Masters base from 1 Team to 5 Teams travelling to Cairns in 2025. This has only been achieved by the dedication of our Players (& their families), Volunteer Coaches, Managers, Umpires, Technical Officials & Organising Committees. We have had Mothers, Daughters, Sisters, Cousins, Spouses – one big family!!

We have players who keep coming back after 20 years – Cheryl Zanetti, Wendy Foruria & Kathryn (Curly) Richardson.
No wonder some of them need “nanny” naps during the weekend!!!
With the introduction of social media, it has become so much easier to document our history, remember prior years and all the fun times we have had. With limited access to the “early” years – we acknowledge that this is a time we should not ever forget.
We are looking forward to the 2025 State Championships in Cairns:
Our Townsville #1 is playing in Division One for the first time since 2011
Our first Mother/Daughter combo playing in the same team
Our largest player contingent ever of 5 Teams plus our 5 Coaches, 5 Managers, 5 Umpires & 2 Techs
WOW! What a year this will be!
Thank you to all the dedicated Masters Players in Queensland – what happens at Masters stays at Masters!!!!
