Fiona Dodd joined East Hockey Club at the age of 12 (1974). Her father had played hockey and she loved watching him play. It was only natural that she would start playing hockey. Apart from having time off for having children, Fiona has played continuously since then.
Her three daughters have played hockey, two of these are currently playing in Townsville and Gold Coast Teams.
Fiona currently plays for Capri Hockey Club on the Gold Coast. Official positions she has held in previous years are President of South West United Hockey Club and has Umpired Division 1 and Division 2 teams.
During her junior hockey career, Fiona has represented Brisbane several times. For Senior Hockey, being Masters, she has represented Ipswich and Brisbane 1 from 2001 to 2008. She has been awarded Best and Fairest for Bulimba Women’s Division 2 team.
Fiona has represented Queensland at Nationals from 2001 to 2005. She has represented Australia in 2001, 2003 and 2005.
One of Fiona’s best hockey experiences is being selected in 2001 to play for Brisbane 1, Queensland 35s and then the Australian Team. Another best experience is the tip to Malaysia for Australian 35s in 2003.
Fiona took a break from National Hockey Championships for a number of years and has now returned to play for Qld 55 #2 team on the Gold Coast in 2019.
